Hey, I'm Linus! I live in the south-west of Germany, BW.

In my freetime I enjoy writing lots of code, hacking my Raspberry Pis, creating websites of all types, being crative, drawing, taking photos and playing the drums for some time now.

In my not-freetime I go to school and work at Fraunhofer IOSB as an assistance scientist from June 2017 onwards.

I always try improving my English language skills, for example by writing these sites in English, watching English movies/YouTube videos and just being a dev. Beside of some programming languages, the most of us speak English, so even StackOverflow and GitHub help me improving my language. If you are native speaker and find something completely wrong, just tell me. After all I'm still German

I am a huge fan of the open-source community, free software and Linux. I tend to combining code with art; either by building all sorts of modern UIs or by properly formatting the source code. Yes, PEP8 is a complete reference of how to "write" art.

This website

Is completely self-made, with web technologies including HTML, JavaScript, CSS and PHP for server-side templating. I had WordPress running previously, but it turned out to be overkill. So this time no CMS, just a main Template fed with the content, metadata and the accent color.

Sass is used for CSS, Webpack 2 for using ES6 features and building a single JS file. I have Atom as my editor.

Third party projects used here:
Font Awesome by Dave Gandy – fontawesome.io.
"Twemoji" by Twitter is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Some of the smart people out there are curious about websites heavily using JavaScript. I can tell you this site is not, just for two things:

  • Displaying the cookie banner and storing an "accepted" cookie
  • Toggleing the navigation in mobile view

I hope you are fine with that!

Hardware and Software

I used to be a real MS Windows freak, but this is the past. These days all my PCs are running under GNU/Linux, my Laptop for example is running Linux Mint Cinnamon 18.1. For reference, on this machine uname -a says (as of mid-June 2017, I do Kernel updates, you know):

Linux sony-vaio 4.4.0-79-generic #100-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 17 19:58:14 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The same command on my shared hosting server says:

Linux Debian-92-stretch-64-minimal 4.9.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.51-1 (2017-09-28) x86_64 GNU/Linux

But since it's shared hosting I can't do anything about it.

I'm also the proud owner of the Raspberry Pi Zero W, 2 and 3. Read more about my experience with this kind of hardware here.
